SIXTY students are to benefit from a funding scheme set up in the name of an Iraqi refugee.
The students, from Goldsmiths College, New Cross, will each receive £1,000 through the Dangoor Scholarship.
The £1m scheme is being introduced at universities across the country to help students suffering financial hardship or with no family history of higher education.
The scholarship takes its name from 90-year-old Naim Dangoor, who chose to settle in England in the 1960s after arriving from Iraq.
Despite having little academic background he studied in London and went on to become a successful property developer.
Goldsmiths is one of 16 universities eligible for the scholarship. For more information on applying for help, call 020 7919 7297.
