CINEMA BLAZE: Four fire crews were battling a fire at the old Coronet Cinema, Well Hall Road, Eltham, as News Shopper went to press on Monday evening. Firefighters said the blaze related to asbestos in the building, which has been disused since the cinema closed six years ago.
MUMS' CLASSES: Ante and post-natal exercise classes will be launched in January next year for new and expectant mums. Safe and low impact exercise to music classes will be offered in Catford on Friday mornings and in Forest Hill on Monday evenings. The cost is £5. Call 07817 217085.
BOMB UNCOVERED: Police were called to a work site after builders found an unexploded First World War grenade. The workers were evacuated from the site at Wearside Road, Lewisham on December 1 at 3pm. No-one was hurt and the grenade was taken away by the special bomb squad.
