A PUB landlord has received a surprise gift from Bexley police, thanks to the new licensing laws.
Leonard Smith has been running the Royal Oak, Mount Road, Bexleyheath, for 47 years.
When Bexley police's licensing officer PC Eddy Boston was clearing his desk, to make way for all the new paperwork, he came across an application dated April 10 1958 for a licence.
It was the first application by Mr Smith when he took over the licence of the pub.
PC Boston said: "It seemed a shame to throw it away."
Instead, the police had the application framed and presented it to Mr Smith.
