PUPILS have celebrated the opening of their school's new media building and are hoping to become actors and journalists.
The 850 girls at St Catherine School, Watling Street, Bexleyheath, celebrated the opening of the £5m building by showing off their skills.
Ballet dancers, a choir, poetry readers and actors all showcased their talents and demonstrated the school's new facilities, which include a multi-media editing suite and music rooms.
The building took eight months to complete.
It was funded by the Government and the school's trustees, LSU Sisters convent.
Susan Powell, St Catherine's headteacher, said: "The new building, facilities and teaching staff will really allow us to fly as a school."
Specialist status was awarded to the school in September, allowing teachers to specialise in media studies, drama and English.
