THREE new trees have been planted to "preserve the natural beauty" of Blackheath.
The trees a willow, an alder and a birch were planted near the Prince of Wales pond during a ceremony last week.
They have been put in to replace three mature trees which were chopped down on safety grounds last year.
Deputy mayor Councillor Gavin Moore joined Blackheath councillor Andrew Brown and representatives from the Blackheath Society at the planting ceremony last week.
Cllr Moore said: "Blackheath is not just an historic landmark but a beautiful open space the public can enjoy.
"We want to do everything we can to preserve its natural beauty.
"We also want to ensure it remains a place which everyone will still want to visit in the future."
