PUPILS helped make poverty history by hosting an evening of events celebrating black culture.
Year 11 students at Gravesend Grammar School for Girls, Pelham Road, Gravesend, organised the event to celebrate Black History Month.
Pupils took part in a fashion show of traditional African dress, dance, traditional Nigerian singing, drumming and folk tales.
The event raised £565 for the Make Poverty History campaign.
Students Abigail Ozua, Robyn Webb, Geetha Kalkut and Laura Rushe came up with the idea to raise money and awareness.
Headteacher Nicole Chapman said: "We wanted our students to celebrate their varied backgrounds as well as their determination to support a charity vital to all our futures."
