SOUTHFLEET WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
At the AGM on Monday, October 10, the president Val Memory, thanked the committee for their help in the last year. The election then took place for the forthcoming year.
Margo Crundwell was thanked for the many years service on the committee as she leaves for her new home in Devon, our love and best wishes go with her and Ken.
On Tuesday, November 22, 64 members and guests attended our 60th birthday celebration. Most of the ladies wore tiaras and evening dresses which added to the festive atmosphere of the evening.
Following a delicious three course meal we settled down to be entertained by the Green Street Blues', a ladies barber shop choir, whose fame is now spreading far and wide.
They sang a variety of songs culminating in Sweet Georgia Brown', it was a delightful end to a very pleasant evening.
Our cake, made by Doreen Hathaway, was cut by Doris Burnett who is our longest serving member having joined in 1945, when our institute started, everyone present was given a commemorative cars made by Sheila Freeman with details of the history of Southfleet WI - many thanks to everyone on the birthday party committee.
The next meeting will take place on Monday, December 12 at Southfleet Village Hall when the program will include Mary Longhurst with Call my Bluff'.
The district Christmas concert will take place on Monday, December 19 at 7.30pm also at the Village Hall.
