BECEKNHAM ROTARY CLUB
President John Stevens took the opportunity at our latest meeting to remind members that the time had come round once again for the Club's Christmas Collections for various local Charities.
This would be coming hot on the heels of the very successful Poppy Day collection in Beckenham High Street which Rotarians and their Ladies had so fully supported and which had achieved record returns. The Earl Haig Fund Authorities had been very generous in their thanks and their praise for our efforts.
Fortunately, the weather had been sunny and the citizens of Beckenham were the people who really deserved the compliments for their smiles and copious generosity throughout the collecting day on November 12.
Our Christmas collecting would open over the period of December 3, 4 and 5, at the Tesco Store in Beckenham by kind permission of the managers who had also agreed to provide suitable costumes for participants as part of the Festive Spirit.
This would be followed by our annual Rotary Collection around the streets of Beckenham for four nights commencing December 12.
Santa Claus would be with us each evening to brighten up the event and he would be aboard our ever familiar Rotary float with plenty of suitable music and good cheer to keep everybody happy.
President John Stevens announced that this year the Club would be supporting C.A.S.P.A. (Children & Autistic Spectrum Parents Association) once again, together with Friends of Phoenix ( a Charity helping Carers for Children with Special Needs in Bromley) and L.E.C. (Life Education Centre) which disseminates Health Education Information on smoking, drinking and drugs to local schools. Our contribution would help L.E.C. to acquire a new caravan for display purposes.
Information about the Club's activities can be obtained from the Secretary on 0208 650 2950.
