ROWHILL WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
Rowhill's AGM took place on November 17 and it commenced with a quiet reflection on the sad death of the WI's national Chairman, Barbara Gill.
Our president, Eileen Kelly then welcomed Christine Curtis, the advisor for the evening, together with Norma Cackett and Doreen Fox from Joydens Wood WI as acting tellers.
Due to family commitments our secretary, Sue Bisset, was having to stand down from the committee and we also said farewell to Ann Clarridge who had completed five years as our home economics representative. In their annual reports, both the outgoing secretary and our president outlined all the events covered by this busy WI and thanks were given to all the hard working members who help to make Rowhill so successful.
Past president Pam Blatchford was welcomed back on the committee and after some gentle persuasion, we eventually secured a new secretary when Diana Rose came forward to take over this responsible position. Well done Diana.
With Eileen Kelly again being re-elected as president it should be all systems go for another year!
Our advisor and tellers were thanked for presiding over the somewhat formal evening, following which we ended with a seasonal raffle and with members looking forward to the next evening's visit to the Royal Albert Hall for the annual Classical Spectacular concert. This involved our outings rep., organising the biggest ever evening event with 90 people (members, family and friends) enjoying a superb evening. Following hot on the heels of the recent trip to the London Palladium to see Scrooge, we certainly keep well entertained. Thanks once again to Eileen Mills for all her hard work.
Our Christmas meeting will be held on December 15.
