GRAVESEND EPILEPSY NETWORK
Gravesend Epilepsy Network's party of eighteen enjoyed a three course meal and had a pleasant evening when they finally visited the Reliance Fish Bar and Restaurant in Gravesend on the fourth Friday in October.
Fred Savill presided over the AGM in November. He said the year saw a lot of activity and that monthly meetings are just a tip of the iceberg.
He refuted rumours that the group was about to fold by saying it had been in existence for 24 years, and was recognised as being one of the active and high profile support groups in the country.
He pointed out that the group had been accepted onto the Joint Epilepsy Council, the International Bureau for Epilepsy, the International League Against Epilepsy, and was heavily involved with the South East Region Neurological Alliance.
He continued that the Group was going strong and looking forward to its 25th anniversary next year.
Lynn, in a written statement, read out by a member apologised because it's the first time she had missed an annual meeting, she said the group continues to thrive as it approaches its 25th year.
She went on that a group long-weekend at a holiday village could be possible to help celebrate this if funding is found.
She spoke about how her daughter had taken work off her and said don't worry about saying no when Susan phones about social events, she is only reminding you or getting numbers.
The treasurer's report showed a healthy balance but about a thousand less than last time.
Susan was pleased with the number of people attending activities when she gave her social secretary's report.
A new vice-chairman was the only change in the committee elections. The chairman and meeting then worked out a draft programme for 2006.
Any Other Business heard the Meeting discussing the best places to hold Group meals out.
The third Friday in the month saw a party of thirteen go along to AMF Bowling alley where they hired the last three lanes. They had a good time playing two games having formed two teams of four and one of three. The majority feeling hungry after their exertion, decided to pay another visit to Reliance Fish Bar GEN monthly meetings are usually held on the first Thursday at Emmanuel Baptist Church Hall, Windmill Street, Gravesend (opposite Police Station) from 7-30pm to 10pm.
The next on Thursday, 1st December 2005 will be the Christmas Drinks & Eats. New members are always welcome.
