HI-TECH gritting trucks are ready to tackle icy roads to keep the borough's traffic moving.
Bromley Council's 17 purpose-built gritting trucks are equipped with a global positioning system (GPS) so the winter service team knows exactly where the trucks are.
This means the nearest available truck can be directed to roads which need gritting as soon as possible.
The fleet will concentrate on main bus routes and roads leading to hospitals, fire and ambulance stations, schools and potentially dangerous locations such as steep hills.
Detailed weather forecasts produced by the London Met Office are used by the council to decide which roads need gritting and when.
