A FRAUDSTER has been sentenced to 150 hours' community service after cheating the council out of £5,370.
Omotayo Kasumu, of Nightingale Vale, Woolwich, pleaded guilty to four charges of making false representations.
In claiming housing and council tax benefits between October 2003 and December last year, the 44-year-old failed to declare he owned a house outside the borough and had bank accounts containing substantial funds.
Sentencing Kasumu at Woolwich Crown Court, Judge Michael Carroll said he had committed the offences out of greed.
Kasumu is now repaying the money to the council.
Greenwich Council leader Councillor Chris Roberts said: "We do not tolerate people trying to claim more money than they are entitled to."
