YOUNG bookworms heard from top authors at a day devoted to the enjoyment of reading.
Children from Meridian Primary School, Old Woolwich Road, Greenwich, took part in a literacy workshop.
The youngsters read their favourite books and heard from children's author Anne Colledge and illustrator Jane Ray.
Ten deaf pupils, who are taught in the school's specialist hearing impaired unit, also worked with deaf author Joyce Dunbar.
Headteacher Dave Suttle said: "The day was a huge success and the children really enjoyed having interaction with the authors."
The day was sponsored by the Quentin Blake Award, a project run by the children's illustrator to encourage more youngsters to get into reading.
