HUNDREDS of residents have had their say on the future of a 120-year-old swimming baths.
The public consultation on the redevelopment of Forest Hill Pools, Dartmouth Road, Forest Hill, ended last Friday.
Lewisham Council says it received more than 1,500 responses during the two-month consultation period.
Residents were asked to choose between two options retain and improve the existing building with two pools or build a new single-pool facility.
Most residents at two public meetings held last month favoured keeping the current building, which is London's oldest swimming baths.
Many expressed concern the loss of a pool due to a rebuild would lead to community groups and schools missing out on swimming activities.
Interest group the Sydenham Society says there is an "overwhelming desire" to keep two pools.
Chairman Pat Trembath added: "We agree the building needs to be improved. It is run down and needs some tender loving care.
"It is a much-loved landmark building and we hope it stays."
The consultation results will be presented to Lewisham Mayor Steve Bullock.
A council spokesman said: "The breakdown of the consultation results will be made available to the public once the Mayor has fully considered them."
