THOUSANDS of residents got into the festive spirit as the borough lit up to mark the countdown to Christmas.
Children and their parents joined Father Christmas and his elves to see the lights being switched on in Greenwich town centre.
The crowds were kept amused by arts and crafts workshops, face painting stalls and a performance of yuletide songs by the St Alfege's School band.
Residents also flocked to Eltham High Street last week to see MP Clive Efford switch on the lights.
Revellers enjoyed performances from the Deansfield School choir, the Crown Woods School band and Bromley chart act The Dualers.
