A CRACKDOWN on flytipping has resulted in a hefty fine for a man whose old car parts blocked a bridleway.
Darren Chambers, of Lullingstone Crescent, St Mary Cray, had arranged for an unlicensed contractor to pick the items up for scrap. They were later found dumped in the bridleway off Cudham Lane North, Cudham.
On November 18, Chambers pleaded guilty at Bromley Magistrates' Court to failing to exercise a duty of care.
He was ordered to pay a £500 fine, £300 costs and £200 towards rubbish removal.
Executive councillor for the environment George Taylor said: "This prosecution sends out a strong message, not only to flytippers, but to people who blindly get rid of their waste without any consideration for the way in which it's disposed and the damage it does to our environment."
