KEEP well, keep warm, keep safe this is the message to Bexley's elderly this winter.
Bexley Council has joined forces with Bexley Care Trust and Age Concern Bexley to give advice and help to older people to prepare for this year's anticipated cold weather.
All vulnerable older people are being given free room thermometers to keep their rooms at the recommended 21 degrees Celsius, together with emergency numbers and leaflets and tapes on how to keep warm.
Those aged over 65 and with certain medical conditions are being urged to get a free flu jab.
And the elderly are also being advised not to make unnecessary outings in icy weather and to wear suitable footwear if they have to go out.
There are a variety of schemes offering grants and free installation for insulation and heating improvements.
And there is an advice line service available weekdays from 8am to 8pm. Call 0800 085 7000.
