IT'S A BEACON: Bexley Council, which has won Beacon status for one of its services every year since the Government introduced the awards in 2000, has been short-listed for three services road safety, waste and recycling and early intervention (children at risk).
HELP OUT: New Horizons, a charity which provides one-to-one adult befrienders for people with learning disabilities, has thanked its volunteers for all their dedication. It is still looking for more helpers. Training is given. Call 01322 345380.
MERRY MARKET: Bexley Country Market is holding a Christmas market this Saturday from 10am to 2pm in the Freemantle Hall, Bexley Village High Street. The market usually meets every Friday from 9.45am to 11.30am.
SING-A-LONG: The first of the civic carol services will be held this Saturday in St Martin's Church, Erith Road, Barnehurst, at 2.30pm. The service is aimed at elderly people and those with disabilities.
