THE first female Sea Cadet officer to lead a parade in more than 65 years has thanked her husband for his support.
Jennifer Wearn, 30, of Burham Close, Penge, was watched by husband Clayton, 31, and their four children as she led the Beckenham Remembrance Day parade.
Mr Wearn is an instructor for the London Scottish Army Cadets and missed his parade to watch his wife become the first woman to lead the parade since 1937.
Mrs Wearn said: "If it was not for the support of my husband I would not be able to be the officer in charge.
"The parade was very daunting but I enjoyed it.
"I think it gives other females the chance to think wow, she's a female' and to know you can be what you want to be."
