POLICE say they are pleased after a knife amnesty saw more than 25 weapons handed in.
The two-week scheme, which ended on November 20, was part of Operation Blunt, which aims to reduce the number of knives on London's streets.
The amnesty got off to a disappointing start in the first week, with just two flick knives being deposited at Bexleyheath Police Station, Arnsberg Way.
But following a fresh appeal in News Shopper last week, more people came forward to hand in knives.
Safer Neighbours Inspector Dick Weaver said: "We are very pleased with the result we have had over the short period of time with Operation Blunt.
"More than 25 knives have been handed in and each one means one fewer knife on Bexley's streets."
