A GROUP of former air cadets who have been meeting up annually for the past 30 years may have held their last reunion.
Ex-members of the 74th Squadron Air Training Corps, based in Crayford, fear the MoD may have put an end to their get-togethers by closing down the squadron.
The 74th Squadron was formed in 1941 and had its own headquarters in Swaisland Drive, Crayford.
But earlier this year the MoD decided to close down the squadron and disperse its current cadets and equipment, including its minibus, to other corps in the area.
Ted Baverstock, of Hurst Road, Bexley, joined the squadron in 1941 at the age of 15 and was one of the 30-plus members who turned out for this year's reunion at the Royal Oak pub in Mount Road, Bexleyheath.
He is convinced the MoD wanted the squadron's land, which he believes was given to the air cadets by the Vickers company, which owned large tracts of Crayford.
With no central meeting place and an ageing former membership, Mr Baverstock fears this year may have been the last meeting of the former-cadets, one of whom travelled from Warwickshire for this year's event.
