A RESTRICTED speed zone is being created to encourage people to walk or cycle to Crayford station and the nearby town centre.
Traffic in the Heath Road area will be restricted to travelling at 20mph or less.
However, after a speed survey and consultation with residents, Bexley Council has made several changes to its original scheme.
These include a new traffic island at the entrance to Heath Road from Dartford Road, to prevent drivers from making U-turns and help people to cross more safely.
Preliminary work on installing the scheme will begin shortly but the main roadworks will start at the beginning of December for around six weeks.
The roads included in the scheme are: Heatherbank Close; Heathlee Road; Lower Station Road; Heathview Avenue; Royston Road; Station Road; Ridge Avenue; Ridge Way; Dale Close; Dale Road; Heath Road; Valley Close; Valley Road; West Heath Close; West Heath Road; Hill Brow and Hillside Road.
