RETIRING employees of Bexley Council should have no worries about their pensions.

The council has just won the award for best pension fund performer in UK equities, for the third year running.

The fund is worth £360m and is managed by two professional managers whose work is overseen by the council's pension committee.

David Berry, the council's finance director, said: "This consolidates our position as one of the leading authorities for pension-fund investment."

The awards organised by the Local Government Chronicle, were presented a ceremony at London's Dorchester Hotel.
