VOLUNTEERS mucked in and did their bit for the environment by helping to clean up a river.
Around 40 residents, young and old, braved the cold weather and donned their wellies to clean up the River Ravensbourne.
The volunteers fished out piles of rubbish from the stretch of river which passes through Ladywell Fields, Malyons Road, Ladywell.
This included everything from shopping trolleys and traffic cones to prams and a motorbike.
The clean-up was organised by environmental charity Thames21, which is leading the fight to improve London's rivers.
Thames21 co-ordinator Vic Richardson said: "It was a very successful day, we took out a truckload of rubbish.
"The commitment of these people is making a real difference to the local environment and improving the neighbourhood."
