MOTORISTS are being urged to hide their Christmas presents to avoid becoming victims of opportunist car thieves.
Greenwich police say festive shoppers should not leave any valuable items like DVD players or hi-fis on display.
They are being told to keep presents hidden and locked away in the boot to discourage thieves.
Police are also urging people to make sure their cars are kept locked while they are out shopping.
Inspector Gareth Davies said: "Most car thieves will strike on the spur of the moment when they spot something which takes their fancy.
"People wouldn't leave £5 notes lying on the seat or scattered over the dashboard, so why leave property you have paid good money for on display?"
