A LABOUR MP has criticised the "small-minded" tactics of Tory colleagues who scuppered a Parliamentary alternative energy bill.
Erith and Thamesmead MP John Austin backed two Private Member's Bills on climate change and renewable energy.
But while the bill on climate change will now go forward to the committee stage, Mr Austin accused Tory MPs of blocking the second bill on managing energy in buildings.
Mr Austin said: "This could have made a real difference to how we power our homes.
"It is sad, however, for all its supporters the bill has been derailed by small-minded tactics, despite widespread support for it both inside and outside Parliament."
