A SCHOOL was flying high at a launch event to celebrate its specialist science status success.
The event at Westwood College, The Green, Welling, had a "flying high" theme because of the school's falcon logo.
Year 7 pupils built small chemically-fuelled rockets and Eagle Heights birds of prey centre visited.
The day ended with a talk about science's impact on society by professor of science education at Kings College, London, Jonathan Osbourne.
Headteacher Corinne Botten said: "It seemed right to celebrate the success with an afternoon which had a scientific theme as its core.
"We are already planning improvements made possible by the science status."
