POLICE are urging more people to hand in weapons following a "disappointing" start to a knife amnesty.
Only two flick knives have been deposited at Bexleyheath Police Station, Arnsberg Way, since the amnesty began on November 7.
The two-week amnesty, which comes to an end at midnight on Sunday, is part of the Operation Blunt, which aims to reduce the number of knives on London's streets.
A police spokesman said: "Sadly we have got off to a disappointing start and only two knives have been put in our bins.
"We would encourage people who have knives, or know people with them, to come and deposit their weapons."
Bins are still available in the front office of the station until Sunday. For more information, call 020 8284 9219.
