BOOK SALE: The Blackheath and Greenwich branch of Amnesty International is holding a fundraising book sale this Saturday, at the Church of the Ascension, Dartmouth Row, Forest Hill. Thousands of new and second-hand books will be on offer at the sale, which runs from 9am to 4pm.
CASH RAISED: Revellers raised £2,000 for Greenwich and Bexley Hospice by holding a disco and raffle event at Plumstead Working Men's Club, Kirkham Street, Plumstead, on Saturday. The volunteers would like to thank those who donated prizes on the night.
PUBLIC MEETING: The Greenwich Society is holding a public meeting at the Forum@Greenwich, Trafalgar Road, Greenwich, on November 22, from 7pm. Items up for discussion include the proposed development at Lovell's Wharf.
SAFE CYCLING: A 10-year-old boy has won himself a new bike after scooping first prize in a competition to design a safer bicycle. David Redway, who attends Montbelle Primary School, in New Eltham, took first place in Cycle 2005, a nationwide cycle safety competition.
GUILD MEETS: Lewisham Townswomen's Guild meets on the second Tuesday of every month, from 1.30pm to 4.30pm, at the St Laurence Centre, Bromley Road, Catford. Call 020 8698 5950.
