THE council has decided to end its contract with the company running its youth services not long after a damning report criticised the service.
The report from education watchdog Ofsted, published on August 1, slammed Bromley Council and Prospects Services Limited, which runs youth centres and projects.
Ofsted described youth activities as poor, unstructured, unchallenging and unsatisfactory value for money.
Bromley Council's executive member for children and young people Councillor Graham Arthur and chief executive of Prospects Services Ray Auvray released a joint statement.
They said: "The service will be terminated by mutual agreement at the earliest opportunity.
"Young people are at the heart of this service.
"Our priority is their best interests."
The different options for providing youth services in the borough will be explored and discussed at the next meeting of the councillor's executive on December 12.
