BALLOONS raced off across the borough to raise money for meningitis sufferers.
Around 500 students from The Priory School, Orpington, released 250 helium-filled balloons from the school grounds.
The Tintagel Road school's details are written on a tag attached to each balloon.
The one which is found and reported from furthest away will be the winner.
Sixth formers Helen McGrath, 17, and Matthew Percival, 17, organised the race for their year group and Year 7 pupils.
They raised £600 for the Meningitis Research Foundation.
Matthew said: "We chose this charity because students in the school know people affected by meningitis.
"We wanted to do something a bit different to the standard collections so we could raise more money."
