A funeral will be held on Friday to commemorate the life of Rudy Narayan, the Streat-ham barrister who found national recognition as a civil-rights activist.
Rudy Narayan lived in Woodbourne Avenue, Streatham, and ran a law office in Brixton.
His daughter Shar-meen talked about the impact his life has had on the community where he worked and lived and the sense of loss felt by her and her sister, Yasmeen.
She said: "He lived in Streatham for many years and he loved it.
"We have been overwhelmed by the encouragement of peo- ple he has known and worked with. We like to think he touched normal people - not people high in the legal and political hierarchy. He cared about the everyday aspects of life."
A wake was held for Rudy Narayan on Monday night and an open funeral will be held tomorrow (Friday) at St Matthews Church, Brixton, at 1pm.
