Putney has a new modern European restaurant at the old Coat and Badge pub in Lacy Road.
The Coat and Badge is the latest in a chain of pubs also serving up market food run, by Malthaven Ltd.
The company, owned by Rupert Clevely, managing director of Veuve Clicquot, also runs two of the few Michelin-rated pubs in Britain, The Duke of Cambridge, in Battersea and The Queen's, in Primrose Hill.
The aim is to combine the community feel of a local pub with more sophisticated food than the usual pub grub.
The menu includes such dishes as chicken and leek pie, salmon fishcakes and chorizo salad.
The Edwardian pub was named in honour of the annual Dogget's Coat and Badge race and the revamped interior includes a frieze showing scenes from the race.
