A string of individual victories saw them dominate the match to win in convincing style with 141 points from Tonbridge (126), hosts Hercules Wimbledon (101), Newbury (85) and Thurrock (79).

They got off to a winning start as Wade Poulson won the hammer with 39.15 metres and Mark Roberts took the 100 metres hurdles in 15.6 sec.

Andrew Studer won the high jump with 1.83m and former London marathon winner Hugh Jones was runner-up in the 5,000 metres in 15mins 49.3secs. Junior international Nick Owen was pushed back into second spot in the shot and discus where he managed 14.79 and 41.72 metres respectively.

Kingston and Polytechnic also won the sprint relay in 45.2secs.

The victory leaves Kingston and Polytechnic at the top of the table with 19 points clear of Chichester Runners (18.5) and Muswell Hill North London (18.5).

Hercules Wimbledon, battling to get out of the relegation zone, produced their best performance of the season to finish third.

Veteran Andy Laughton won the pole vault with a three metre leap, Royden John won the long jump with 6.63 metres and Benny Brusch the triple jump with 13.21 metres.

Cross country captain Steve Sinnott was fourth in the 5,000 metres in 16mins 27.6secs and Libor Krten third in the discus with 41.40 metres.

It still leaves Hercules Wimbledon 23rd in the table with two matches to go.

Walton were third in their Division Three match at Portsmouth with 119 points, behind Chichester Runners and Muswell Hill North London, joint winners on 143.
