It is no secret that parking has become an ever more serious problem in the Diamond, as it has in other parts of Wandsworth. However, it has been hard for us ward councillors to make a strong case to the council for action, when only a few residents have supported our calls.

The problems caused by commuter parking have become even worse since Lambeth Council introduced parking controls to the south of the borough boundary, which runs along Robertson Street.

If your correspondent sees cars being dumped and vans being parked illegally in residential side streets, he should report them either to the council or to me. Our officers are well used to complaints of this sort and, in my experience, they are very quick to attend to them.

I have no way of knowing whether your correspondent is among those who have approached me before about parking problems in the Diamond. I hope he will not be afraid to identify himself to me in future.
