The line was set up on July 17 and means people who have lost their pets can call one central number rather than ringing around several such as the RSPCA and the local police station.
Brainchild
It was the brainchild of the dogs' home and the police and is capable of taking calls from all over London. Staff can make continual checks to see if a lost dog has been brought into Battersea or into a police station.
People who find a stray and do not know what to do with it can also call the number.
Owners
Dogs' Home staff say there has been a 42 per cent increase in the number of lost dog reports made to the home and a significant increase in the amount of dogs reunited with owners.
Call the line on 0901 477 8477.
