MARY Millar spent years walking across Footscray Meadows on her way to see her mother.
Like the romantic poets who visited the Lake District in the 19th century, Mrs Millar was inspired by the sights, sounds and people she saw and composed poems as she walked through the meadows.
Friends and family persuaded her to put her poems together in a book, resulting in Across the Meadows.
In it she tells stories of local characters, places and big events in our lives from her local angle.
Across the Meadows was such a big hit locally the first print run sold out.
Now Mrs Millar has had more printed. Anyone who wants can buy a copy for £3 at K Roberts newsagents, in Lewis Road, Sidcup, or call the poet herself on 020 8302 1252.
