the tenor from the Mercedes Benz ad will be joining Beckenham Chorale to perform work by Mozart this week.

John Bowley, the singer featured in a recent Mercedes-Benz M Class advertisement, and three other soloists will join Beckenham Chorale to perform the Solemn Vespers K339 by Mozart and the Nelson Mass by Haydn on Saturday.

The other soloists taking part are Michael Bundy, bass-baritone, Diana Moore, a mezzo-soprano, and Sara Egan, a soprano who recently toured Europe and Japan in a production of Don Giovanni.

Vespers is a selection of psalms set in a strict, pre-arranged format which contains a richly textured series of movements showing Mozart at his most inventive. It includes the famous fifth movement or psalm, Laudate Dominum, an intense and moving aria for solo soprano and choir.

The Nelson Mass gained its nickname from the fact an early performance of the work in 1800 is said to have been attended by Admiral Nelson and Lady Hamilton.

Beckenham Chorale will perform Haydn's restored original with an orchestration of strings, organ and bass continuo, with trumpets and drums.

November 17, St George's Church, Beckenham, 7.30pm, £5-£8.50, 020 8778 6519.
