A website row which threatened to undermine the future of women's league hockey in Surrey has been resolved after an emergency meeting of the Surrey Hockey Association Ladies League (SHALL).
The entire SHALL committee resigned on September 29 after an unofficial league website launched by Tanya Barr, a player at Epsom Hockey Club criticised the official league site for being inadequate.
It also encouraged league clubs to submit their match results to the new site instead.
SHALL's results and fixtures secretary Jo Malkin who had collated the league's results for 15 years and who, with her husband, designed the official site took offence and, in a show of unity, the entire committee resigned.
Apology
Following an apology from Ms Barr, committee chairman Mandy Hunt re-instated herself to ensure league hockey could continue in the county.
But at the meeting on Wed-nesday night Ms Hunt said she would be stepping down from the post at the end of this season, as will league secretary Marilyn Walker.
As yet there have been no nominations for these positions, but Ms Barr offered to take over as results and fixtures secretary with imme-diate effect and was duly elected. Her website, which was taken off-line when the row first erupted, is now back up and running.
