Explosive dance, physical theatre, classical ballet and the greatest love story ever told. The Welsh Independent Ballet Company, the acclaimed Cwmni Ballet Gwent, is presenting a new production of Shakespeare's classic tragedy, Romeo & Juliet.
This version of the tale will blend the old and the new in a heartbreaking adaptation for all generations as it fuses eloquent moments of pure classicism with flashes of contemporary characterisation.
Romeo & Juliet tells the story of the feud between two families and how the star-crossed lovers, Romeo, only son of the Montagues, and Juliet, the flower of the Capulets, fall in love and die a tragic death.
Cwmni Ballet Gwent was formed in 1986 and has toured the length and breadth of the country and Ireland with new and exhilarating ballets.
Anyone who attends the evening performance may also take part in a free ballet workshop where they will meet the artistic director, Darius James, and take part in exercises on the Woodville stage.
November 24, Romeo & Juliet, Woodville Halls Theatre, Woodville Place, Gravesend, 7.30pm, £8-£12, 01474 337459.
