WREATHS were laid at several occasions on Sunday to remember those who have died or have lost loved ones in battle.

Remembrance Sunday in Sidcup was marked by a march led by the Royal British Legion to St John's Church in Church Road.

Bexley mayor Councillor Aileen Beckwith joined the procession towards the war memorial, in Elm Road, where wreaths were laid in memory of those who had died.

She also attended a service at Merton Court School where past pupils were honoured.

Services of remembrance were held in Gravesend and Northfleet with hundreds of people in attendance, including councillors, past mayors and freemen.

Gravesham mayor Councillor Valerie Ashenden attended the Gravesend march from the Veterans' Club, Clarence Place, to a wreath-laying at the war memorial in Windmill Gardens.

Deputy Mayor Councillor Narinder Thandi joined veterans in Northfleet for a service at the war memorial at The Hill.

A British Legion concert was organised in Longfield as part of the weekend's commemoration for those who have died in conflict. Northfleet Brass Band played at a poppy appeal fundraiser on Friday night.
