Following the report in last week's News Shopper of the Sharks Swimming Club's great success at Colchester, comes news of another huge medal haul in the Special Olympic Regional gala held, appropriately, in Poole.

Mottingham's Dean Allen was in fantastic form, winning five golds.

His wins came in the 50 metres backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle races, as well as the 100m freestyle and 4x25m medlay relay. He also won silver in the 4x25m freestyle relay.

Thamesmead's Kirtsy Turner won double gold in the 50m backstroke and freestyle, plus silvers in the 50m breaststroke, 100m freestyle, 4x25m medley and 4x25m freestyle relays.

Brockley's Ben Summers was a double-gold medal-winner in the 50m freestyle and 4x25m medley relay, plus a silver in the 50m backstroke and a 100m freestyle bronze.

The Sharks Swimming Club trains at the Eric Liddle Sports Centre in Mottingham on Monday evenings and encourages people with any kind of disability to join. Call coach Kay Instrell on 020 8857 3854 for more details.
