London Knights continued their resurgence in form by following up their draw away at Sheffield on Saturday, with a
superb 5-2 win over league leaders Belfast Giants at the London Arena on Sunday.
Belfast edged the first period and out-shot the Knights 11-6. Dave Trofimenkoff's fine netminding kept the Knights on level terms before smart work by man of the match Ian McIntyre set up Trevor Roenick for the game's first goal on 19:27.
Knights captain David Struch extended their lead four minutes into the second period with his first goal for the club, only for Belfast to rally. First, David Matsos netted and then Jeff Hoad's shot slipped through Trofimenkoff's grasp to make it 2-2.
However, there was no chance of a repetition of Saturday, when London gave up a 4-1 lead at Sheffield, as they scored with two quick goals in the 49th minute.
Nate Leslie notched his second goal in successive home games to restore Knights' lead before McIntyre extended it less momenmts later, when Roenick returned the earlier favour with the assist.
Knights' top-scorer Mike Barrie then slapped home Knights' fifth with just under four minutes left.
Meanwhile, four members of the London Knights have been selected to play in this year's All-Star Challenge in aid of the NSPCC at the National Ice Centre, In Nottngham, on Friday, December 14.
Trevor Roenick, Trevor Robins, Maurizio Mansi and Mike Barrie were chosen by Belfast Giants' coach Dave Whistle, himself the fans choice for All-Star coach. No other club is contributing as many players to the team.
