Edgware Town 7 Leighton Town 1
Ryman League Div Three
Ashley Leenders was the star of Edgware's runaway win on Tuesday, completing a nine-minute hat-trick and giving the Wares a 3-0 lead after 15 minutes.
Leenders struck after six minutes, firing a 25-yard volley from Steve Flain's neat flick.
He followed that with two goals in a minute. In the 14th minute, he seized on a through ball from Ryan Harris, and shot past the keeper. Then he burst inside from the left and provided a clinical finish.
Though Leighton replied through Redsull, Steve Flain restored Edgware's three-goal lead on the stroke of half-time. Leenders was forced to retire at half-time with a recurrence of a groin problem that could rule him out of Saturday's visit to Ware.
Paul Johnson, replacing Leenders at half-time, soon made it 5-0. Malcolm Allen hit the sixth on the hour, and proved the pass for Harris (80mins) to complete the rout.
