Barnet chairman Tony Kleanthous has said that he will use his appointment as a director of the Nationwide Conference to push the league's claim for a second promotion spot.

Currently, only the champions are elected to the Football League and proposals to bring about a change, with two clubs stepping up, were rejected earlier this year.

Kleanthous said: "Asking the chairmen of Third Division clubs to support a change is like asking turkeys to vote for Christmas but with a lot of hard work we shall overcome their objections.
