The letter entitled 'Human rights', (Times Letters, November 8) made a single valid point in that the eruv is a human rights issue the right of people to practice their religious beliefs without being obstructed.
Every road has telegraph poles, to which no one objects, and nobody complains that their house is 'hijacked' when used as a notional boundary for an electoral ward.
The arguments raised are without foundation and are being used to disguise religious bigotry. It is a shame that those who are so quick to mention human rights are also the first to forget that a fundamental part of this is tolerance of other people's beliefs.
