AFTER a nine-goal whitewash against Ashford earlier in the season, Bromley under-14 girls found themselves in another nine-goal match against local rivals Beckenham.
Bromley went ahead with a goal from skipper Emma Thomas and before half-time further goals were added by Charlotte Ridout and Deveena Beri gave them a 3-0 lead.
But Beckenham came out with
renewed vigour for the second half and quickly pulled two goals back.
Though reeling momentarily, the Bromley girls countered with another two goals of their own, scored by Kirsty Brett and Charlotte Ridout.
Beckenham, now three goals down for the second time, could well have lost heart, but they were not in the mood to give up and battled away to get another two goals. Panic stations for Bromley!
But somehow the Bromley defence held out the hung on to their 5-4 lead and, importantly, their 100 per cent record in the Kent League.
Player of the match was Bromley's Samantha Ashton for both her fine attacking play and her strong defensive skills.
Away at Canterbury, on the club's impeccable water-based astroturf pitch, Bromley's under-18 girls found the going tough against a highly skilled and experienced host side.
But Hannah Cole managed to score for Bromley in the first half, with Canterbury levelling after the break as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
For Bromley, skipper Anna Frizoni worked tirelessly throughout and Jenna Lepore was in formidable form in goal.
