I often peruse the letters page and enjoy a good laugh at the more than eccentric views of your regular correspondent, Les Holley.
However, what a surprise it was to read a letter from Mr Holley with which I can agree, namely that of soaring house prices ( 'Property is too pricey' Times, November 1).
Well Les, don't you know that this situation stems from supply and demand.
But we can solve this problem by adopting the discredited communist way of life. No?
Maybe not such a good idea. Or we could increase the supply factor by building more houses on all the Green Belt land. No?
Perhaps also not too clever. I know! Mr Holley could lead from the front by selling his house in West Street at say, 50 per cent under market value.
If he is renting, he could pay the landlord 50 per cent less than the agreed rent.
That'll sort out the problem for good.
Except of course, we won't have the fun of reading his oddball letters!
