ear after year, Hindus are exclusively blamed for fireworks noise prevalent at this time of the year.
The reality is somewhat different. Traditionally, fireworks are let off on Diwali and new year days (consecutive days).
These usually fall within a few weeks of November 5, also celebrated with fireworks.
It is, therefore, impossible to distinguish between the natives celebrating the gunpowder plot and Hindus celebrating Diwali.
In North Harrow, fireworks have been going off for about four weeks.
These cannot be attributed to Hindus, as the letter 'Can't sleep for fireworks' implied, as Diwali has just started.
Incidentally, past letters have expressed concerns for animals.
May I point out that a large proportion of Hindus are vegetarians who do not eat animals, unlike many self-styled animal lovers, who happily do.
