In 1968, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice had been collaborating for two years, when they accepted a commission from the director of the choir at Colet Court School to provide 15 minutes of music for a Bible story.
From this small, low-key start the seeds for the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat had been sown.
This enduring musical is back on tour and at the Wimbledon Theatre until Saturday, November 17.
New Zealand import Glen Drake plays the title role supported by a dazzling, energetic cast. Tickets range from £8.50 to £22. Call the box office on 020 8540 0362.
